L.A. Modernism Show to honor Paul Tuttle

The Los Angeles Modernism Show is this weekend in Santa Monica. This year the show honors architect Paul Tuttle (1918-2002).

Los Angeles midcentury modernism may not acknowledge him at the same level as Charles Eames and Pierre Koenig, but some think he should. Educated at the Chouinard Art Institute in Southern California, Tuttle studied architecture at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Los Angeles Modernism runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barker Hangar, 3021 Airport Ave., Santa Monica. Admission is $15 and includes a catalog with an essay on Tuttle by design writer and L.A. Times contributor Jeffrey Head.
