Strongest storm yet to hit Orange County before dawn, forecasters warn

The National Weather Service warned that the most intense of a series of storms will slam into Southern California before dawn Wednesday.

There could be thunderstorms, hail, and even waterspouts and tornadoes along the Southern California coast early Wednesday, forecasters said. The storm could dump up to 1.5 inches an hour in some places, bringing flooding not only to foothills and the mountains but in neighborhoods all over Orange County, said Stuart Seto, a specialist for the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
